The Putnam County Youth Business Market was hailed as a resounding success

from the Putnam County Executive Office

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY – The first annual Putnam County Youth Business Market, held at the Tilly Foster Farm on June 9, was a resounding success.

The event attracted over 600 visitors who came to support 70 new vendors displaying an impressive range of products. The event was made possible by the dedicated public servants of the Putnam County Youth Bureau, in cooperation with the event’s Community Sponsor and Business Advisor Ed Santalone, owner of Promenade at 6 in Carmel.

The market was a vibrant showcase of youth entrepreneurship, featuring items such as bracelets, art, baked goods, 3D printed toys, plants, lemonade, Pokemon cards, Rubik’s cubes and more. Youth vendors and their families traveled from all over Putnam County and beyond, with some attendees coming from the Bronx and Connecticut.

Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne praised the event’s impact on the community: “The success of our first Youth Business Market is a testament to the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our youth. It was inspiring to see so many families and community members come together to support our future business leaders. This event not only provided a valuable learning experience for our youth, but also strengthened our community ties.”

Deputy Speaker of the County Legislature, Amy Sayegh, who attended the event, echoed these sentiments: “The participation and enthusiasm at the Youth Business Market was incredible. Our young entrepreneurs did an incredible job and it was heartwarming to see the hard work and their dedication This event highlighted the incredible talent we have in Putnam County and beyond.”

Legislator Bill Gouldman also expressed his admiration: “Seeing the wide variety of products and the entrepreneurial spirit of our youth was truly impressive. The market provided a great opportunity for these young vendors to learn about business, engage with community and to develop a meaningful life I look forward to seeing this event grow in the coming years.”

The First Annual Putnam County Youth Business Market not only served as a platform for young people to learn and grow, but also contributed to the vibrancy of the community. The event was more than a market; it was a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit and a promising sign of future success.
